The sweltering summer heat typically arrives here in Charleston in late June and man oh man, it is officially here! Last weekend, Alyson + Scott said “I do!” at The Island House, which is nestled on the Stono River, and the heat index reached 110 degrees on their big day! Regardless of the heat, everyone was determined to have a great time and I couldn’t have asked for a more cooperative group of people to work with as we photographed everything as quickly and efficiently as possible. It really made things go so much smoother and I can’t thank Alyson, Scott, their family + friends enough for being so fabulous on such a HOT day!!
The girls got ready downtown at Charleston Place Hotel and we did a few photos downtown before heading out to the venue on Johns Island where Alyson + Scott shared their First Look. Bridal party and family photos followed, with lots of breaks in between for some air conditioning + water! Lauren and her team at Fox Events were simply AMAZING throughout the day and the reception design was gorgeous, inspired by Alyson’s love of blue hydrangeas. The girls at Fox Events worked so hard all day long to keep those flowers looking fresh in the heat… and it really paid off! Alyson + Scott said their vows in front of a beautiful floral arch overlooking the river, then spent the evening celebrating with all of their closest family + friends. It was an amazing celebration and I’m honored to have been there to document it all. Here are some of my favorites from Alyson + Scott’s blue + white Charleston wedding at The Island House…

When Katie first told me about her wedding day vision – a classic brunch wedding overlooking the water at the iconic Ocean Course on Kiawah Island – I knew it was going to be such a beautiful celebration. There really isn’t anything like a Kiawah Island wedding! A custom Modern Trousseau ball gown, topped with […]
I met up with Dawn + Joey in February for their beautiful engagement session here in Charleston. They brought their two beautiful pups, Willow + Cricket, along for part of the session… and boy, did they have a blast at Hampton Park?!? I am totally OBSESSED with the photos of them walking together (below) because […]
Audra + Rahul’s beautiful traditional Indian wedding in Charleston was definitely one for the books. I absolutely LOVE everything about South Asian/Indian weddings… the colors, the attire, the music, the food, the traditions, the rituals, the family element, the dancing. There really is nothing like it and if I could specialize in shooting only South […]
From the very first time I spoke with Martha Camille, I knew that her Boone Hall wedding was going to be EPIC. I also knew that she was going to be a dream client for me – and she absolutely was! I love all of my couples, but it’s so extra special when someone has […]
When Martha Camille told me that she wanted to recreate her mother’s studio bridal portraits, I’ll admit… I was a little hesitant. I’ve never done studio bridal portraits before and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to bring her vision to life. As a creative, I love doing things that are outside of […]
2023 was definitely one of the best years yet for my business. I had the honor of working with so many fabulous couples, in so many fabulous locations… including Spain, Italy, and Hawaii! I feel extremely lucky that I was able to experience such a tremendous year of growth and travel. Here are some of […]
